The Yellow Brick Road, Math Fun and Homework Celebration

With our story, The Garden of Abdul Gasazi, we discussed story elements (characters, setting, plot). We created a "yellow brick road" for us to follow the story and re-tell it with a partner. We had a blast!

We also practiced our 6 and 9 multiplication facts with a spinner game. The first person to cross out all of their products won! What a fun way to practice!

For January, we celebrated us all turning in our homework with hot cocoa and decorating our room for Valentine's Day! We had a ton of fun and I think our room looks beautiful!

Recent pictures by Mrs. Hoehne :)

Here are a few things we've been up to this week!

Tomie dePaola:
We've been studying this incredible author this week. We've had the opportunity to read many of his books and study him, as an author and person. We've become very familar with his writing style and characters he uses often. Below are some pictures are we buddy read his books.

We've also been working on multiplication. We've discussed what a multiplication sentence means. For example: 8 x 6 means 8 groups of 6. We worked on this skill today in centers.

Thanks for stopping by and seeing what we've been learning! :)
